As of 2025 Q4, 43,078 JAGUAR XJ SERIESs remain registered in the UK — still a familiar sight on today's roads. That's down from a peak of 51,567 in 2014 Q3 — only 84% of the high-water mark, a loss of about 8,489 cars. They're disappearing at roughly 1,119 a year (2.6% of what's left), a pace that would halve the survivors by around 2051 if it held — though in practice the last, most-cherished examples tend to linger far longer. Tellingly, 47% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up.

The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have been designed under the leadership of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder, and the model has been featured in a myriad of media and high-profile appearances.
