As of 2025 Q4, 217 PORSCHE GTs remain registered in the UK — a genuinely rare sight on today's roads. That's down from a peak of 227 in 2020 Q3 — only 96% of the high-water mark, a loss of about 10 cars. Numbers have held broadly steady over recent years rather than falling away — often the mark of a model that owners deliberately preserve. Tellingly, 52% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up. In all, the PORSCHE GT is rarer than 51% of the 2,408 UK car models we track.

The Porsche Carrera GT (Project Code 980) is a mid-engine sports car that was manufactured by German automobile manufacturer Porsche from 2003 to 2006. Sports Car International named the Carrera GT number one on its list of Top Sports Cars of the 2000s, and number eight on its Top Sports Cars of All Time list. For its advanced technology and development of its chassis, Popular Science magazine awarded it the "Best of What's New" award in 2003.
