NISSAN TERRANO Uncommon

As of 2025 Q4, 5,877 NISSAN TERRANOs remain registered in the UK — an increasingly uncommon sight on today's roads. That's down from a peak of 16,226 in 2014 Q3 — only 36% of the high-water mark, a loss of about 10,349 cars. They're disappearing at roughly 464 a year (7.9% of what's left), a pace that would halve the survivors by around 2033 if it held — though in practice the last, most-cherished examples tend to linger far longer. Tellingly, 87% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up.

About the TERRANO

The Nissan Terrano II (known as the Nissan Mistral (Japanese: 日産・ミストラル, Hepburn: Nissan Misutoraru) in Japan) is a compact SUV manufactured by the Japanese automaker Nissan from 1993 to 2005. It was also made by Nissan's Spanish subsidiary Nissan Motor Ibérica S.A. for the European market, where it was marketed as the Terrano II, and also supplied under an OEM agreement to Ford Europe for sale as the Ford Maverick on the continent and in the United Kingdom. The name "Mistral" is derived from the local wind that blows in the southeastern part of France.
