NISSAN PRAIRIE Rare

As of 2025 Q4, 177 NISSAN PRAIRIEs remain registered in the UK — a genuinely rare sight on today's roads. That's down from a peak of 370 in 2014 Q3 — only 48% of the high-water mark, a loss of about 193 cars. They're disappearing at roughly 9 a year (5.2% of what's left), a pace that would halve the survivors by around 2038 if it held — though in practice the last, most-cherished examples tend to linger far longer. Tellingly, 86% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up. In all, the NISSAN PRAIRIE is rarer than 54% of the 2,408 UK car models we track.

The Nissan Prairie (Japanese: 日産・プレーリー, Hepburn: Nissan Purērī) is an automobile manufactured and marketed by Nissan from 1981 to 2004. Considered a mini MPV or a compact MPV. It was also marketed as the Multi in Canada and the Stanza Wagon in the United States. In Japan, it was exclusive to Nissan Bluebird Store locations, then later at Nissan Blue Stage sales channels. The Prairie had a very flexible seating capability and sliding rear doors on both sides of the vehicle, with a liftgate in the back. The name "prairie" was derived from French which means an extensive area of relatively flat grassland...
