MITSUBISHI SPACE STAR Uncommon

As of 2025 Q4, 1,777 MITSUBISHI SPACE STARs remain registered in the UK — an increasingly uncommon sight on today's roads. That's down from a peak of 12,892 in 2014 Q3 — only 14% of the high-water mark, a loss of about 11,115 cars. They're disappearing at roughly 403 a year (22.7% of what's left), a pace that would halve the survivors by around 2028 if it held — though in practice the last, most-cherished examples tend to linger far longer. Tellingly, 52% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up.

About the SPACE STAR

The Mitsubishi Space Star is a car produced by the Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors from mid-1998 until the end of 2005. Described as a hatchback, a compact people carrier, or a micro MPV, it was built at the NedCar factory in the Netherlands and was primarily sold in the European markets. In 2013, Mitsubishi began selling the sixth generation Mirage supermini under the Space Star name in parts of Europe, owing to legal rights relating to the use of the Mirage nameplate.
