As of 2025 Q4, 1,108 LOTUS ECLATs remain registered in the UK — an increasingly uncommon sight on today's roads. Numbers are at their highest recorded level since the model first appeared in our data in 2014 Q3. Unusually, the numbers are actually rising — up 27 (2.5%) over the past year, as imports and barn-finds rejoin the register faster than cars leave it. Tellingly, 69% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up.
Uncommon — a few thousand still about (1,108).
Rarer than 33% of the 2,408 UK car models we track.
The Lotus Éclat (Type 76 and Type 84) is a sports car built from 1975 to 1982 by British automobile manufacturer Lotus Cars. It was based on the Elite but had a fastback body style which offered more practicality with storage in the boot, albeit with less headroom above the rear seats. The car was initially to be called the "Elite Coupe". The lower half of the fibreglass bodywork was identical to that of the Elite.
As of 2025 Q4, 1,108 LOTUS ECLAT were still registered in the UK — 339 licensed and on the road, plus 769 declared SORN (off-road). The figures come from official DVLA vehicle licensing data.
