FORD SCORPIO Uncommon

As of 2025 Q4, 1,103 FORD SCORPIOs remain registered in the UK — an increasingly uncommon sight on today's roads. That's down from a peak of 2,030 in 2014 Q3 — only 54% of the high-water mark, a loss of about 927 cars. They're disappearing at roughly 59 a year (5.3% of what's left), a pace that would halve the survivors by around 2038 if it held — though in practice the last, most-cherished examples tend to linger far longer. Tellingly, 93% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up.

About the SCORPIO

The Ford Scorpio is an executive car that was produced by Ford Germany from 1985 to 1998. While Ford's Taurus was of a similar size, Ford maintained the need for two parallel cars – while Scorpio buyers valued high-speed stability, a tight turning radius, and a sizable rear seat, American...
