DAEWOO · DAEWOO ESPERO · Cars
As of 2025 Q4, 78 DAEWOO ESPEROs remain registered in the UK — one of the rarest cars in Britain on today's roads. That's down from a peak of 223 in 2014 Q3 — only 35% of the high-water mark, a loss of about 145 cars. They're disappearing at roughly 3 a year (4.2% of what's left), a pace that would halve the survivors by around 2041 if it held — though in practice the last, most-cherished examples tend to linger far longer. Tellingly, 90% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up. In all, the DAEWOO ESPERO is rarer than 62% of the 2,408 UK car models we track, putting it firmly in 2025's endangered class.

With the body designed by Bertone, the model is based on the platform of the Daewoo LeMans, a badge engineered version of the Opel Kadett E manufactured in South Korea. The engines were supplied by Holden, with options ranging from the GM Family 1 1.5L to the GM Family II 2.0L. The Espero was replaced...
