CITROEN ZX Uncommon

As of 2025 Q4, 2,063 CITROEN ZXs remain registered in the UK — an increasingly uncommon sight on today's roads. That's down from a peak of 7,002 in 2014 Q3 — only 29% of the high-water mark, a loss of about 4,939 cars. They're disappearing at roughly 100 a year (4.9% of what's left), a pace that would halve the survivors by around 2039 if it held — though in practice the last, most-cherished examples tend to linger far longer. Tellingly, 89% are declared SORN — kept off the road in garages and barns rather than driven, the signature of a car being looked after rather than used up.

About the ZX

The Citroën ZX is a small family car produced by the French manufacturer Citroën between 1991 and 1998. The BX had tried to address the small family car market and the large family car market by being "between sizes" but well packaged. For 1993, the Citroën ZX chassis was also used for the Peugeot 306 which, with its attractive Peugeot 205 derived styling, was an even...
